Little Brother Shows You His Mettle

Hello! Here is Izumi again.

I did say to you when first I told you about Little Brother coming into the family that shooting on film required a different concept of time.

With PEN, if I capture a happy photograph I can show it to you almost straight away without too much trouble, but with Little Brother not only do I have to process the film then scan the negative, but before that I also have to wait until the roll of film that is loaded in him is finished.

I call these waitings the Zen of Film, which helps a bit.

And that is my explanation to you for why it has taken so long to show you what Little Brother and I have captured on our walkings. But now I can, so here they are:

Newtown Dawn I

Pentax Auto 110 w 18mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 36mm (eqiv)

Newtown Dawn II

Pentax Auto 110 w 18mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 36mm (eqiv)

Newtown Dawn III

Pentax Auto 110 w 18mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 36mm (eqiv)

Dawn Patrol

Pentax Auto 110 w 24mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 48mm (eqiv)

There is a different look to them which may not be so obvious on your computer but which can clearly be seen when I produce a print.

Perhaps to see for yourself you will need to attend my next exhibition. I do not know when that will be but I shall certainly let you know on the News page of my Diary. I also am not sure of its theme but it is quite likely to be similar to the last one, that is people and incidents that we encounter on walking the streets.

Brickworks

Pentax Auto 110 w 18mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 36mm (eqiv)

Dawn Sculpture

Pentax Auto 110 w 18mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 36mm (eqiv)

Marble Ranks

Pentax Auto 110 w 50mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 100mm (eqiv)

You will also please notice that I have not put so many technical details below the photograph as usual. This is because the film cameras do not keep such information and I do not want to disrupt my stalkings by writing it all down as I go. I hope you will understand and forgive me for this.

Sea Angel

Pentax Auto 110 w 50mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 100mm (eqiv)

Coffee Shadow

Pentax Auto 110 w 18mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 36mm (eqiv)

And here below is my friend Mai making breakfast in her café.

She works so fast that Little Brother's shutter cannot keep up with her.

So she becomes rendered in an abstract or surreal way, which is a not inaccurate description of her cooking and the food that results from such talent and enthusiasm and love of what she does.

Busy Hands

Pentax Auto 110 w 24mm, Fukkatsu 100 ASA, 48mm (eqiv)

And, because it is Springtime, here is a surprise bonus for you:

I Have a Dream

Holga 135Pan w 55mm, T-Max 400 @ 400 ASA, 1/100 sec, f/8

I shall explain about it later. Until then, please allow me to be a bit of a mysterious Oriental tease.

And so now I say goodbye to you.

Your friend,

Izumi.
