Hello! Here is a slightly fuzzy Izumi. I think that I have had enough of pinhole photographs for a while and feel the need to see sharp images when I look through PEN's viewfinder. The images that resulted from a visitation of Serendipity I am very grateful for but in a way they are in spite of, not because of, the pinhole lens. So now I must put behind me the disappointments of pinhole images on small sensors such as my PEN has and celebrate the sharpness that can occur with a nice lens and the camera working together and being happy with each other in the results that they produce. I know I have mentioned such subjects to you before so please excuse me but I had a bit of a plan for myself. To to clear my head completely I went back to the Resting Place of the Ancestors with my wide prime lenses. I must admit to you I was curious to see the differences that could be achieved.

But you know me by now so you'll understand that I wanted to do something a bit different. Although not too different as it was the same technique as I used with the pinhole lenses. The flowers were lit by the camera flash and the background by the early morning light. |

These lilies are a lot sharper than the ones photographed with the pinhole lenses so I was feeling a lot clearer in my head even checking them on the little screen at the back of the camera. |

Then I started playing with the low sun behind the dandelions intending to play further in Photoshop when I got home. After a nice cup of tea, of course. I was really going to rid my head of the pinhole unsharpness. And I think I succeeded. |

Ottoh! I have remembered something and as a result I must now confess to you a bit of a contradiction to what I said at the beginning of this page. You will know, along with me, that the last Sunday in April each year is World Wide Pinhole Day so there will be another, perhaps last, occasion that I go out with my PEN wearing a pinhole lens to see what sort of interesting and happy photographs we can find. Or at least until Pinhole Day next year. Thank you again for reading my sayings. I hope you did not feel like a psychiatrist or that I was complaining unduly but I felt the need to refresh myself and the images inside my head. I shall now walk the streets again like a lioness with renewed eyes and not forget that I am looking for Decisive Moments, not Defocused or Desharpened ones. Now let us have a nice cup of tea together and ponder life and the happy photographs to come. Your friend, Izumi. |
