Hello, I’m Izumi and I’m happy to be talking to you. Ever since I was a little girl and my uncle gave me my first camera for my birthday, a Sakura box camera, I have wanted to make photographs of real life people on the streets and such like M Cartier-Bresson, whose photographs I saw in a book my uncle had. I am now staying in your country which is good because you have a photographer also who is like M Cartier-Bresson in his photographs and that is Mr Jeff Carter who one day I would like to meet and talk with him about his photographs and his ways of taking them. I have seen many of his pictures so I am saving up and one day I will have such a photograph of his on my wall to look at whenever I like. Izumi can be a very determined girl like this, I tell you. So now I’m going to keep a diary of how my search for photographs that can be called after M Cartier-Bresson’s Decisive Moment is happening with me, and you can read it too. I think I know what is meant by this Decisive Moment, but to be sure it is probably better to go looking for him with a camera than to go searching for him in books. Come with me! Izumi.
Note Please: Some of my friends have made pictures of me when I am out photographing and I have included them in my Diary and I say thank you to them. But if anyone wants a picture taken away please tell me and I will do it for you. |

If you click on the links below you can go to my Diary pages for different days. Each of the pages also has links to the next ones so you can come walking on the streets with me as I am looking for the Decisive Moment, and not have to go backwards. I am not being a bossy-girl but to come with me the best, read the pages in their numbered order so we can find happy photographs and see how to use different cameras and lenses together. I also have a news page where I can tell you things that may be of interest and excitement to you as they are to me. You will also find there links to things that I talk about in my Diary. I will walk with my camera and my feet, and you can walk with your mouse and your eyes, so that way we are both happy. |
